Rotary Bucharest Atheneum Awards, second edition

Trying to turn it into tradition, on 30th of April 2006, we organized, at the same hospitable Radio Hall, the second edition of the project called “Rotary Atheneum Awards”.

Download Concert in WMV format

Also at this time, the Rotary action was combined with the appreciated and well-known radio show of Mrs. Rodica Sava – “Musicians from today, musicians from tomorrow!” The program carrying the emblem of “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart” since this year we celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth.

The concert organizers, respectively Rotary Atheneum Club, The Romanian Radio Society and Cultural Romanian Television, aimed to reach two objectives: support of young talents and collecting funds for the awards.

Traditionally, we had also a special guest, a recognized artist for this time, the exceptional violinist Eugen Sarbu.  Playing a genuine 1729 Stradivarius violin constituted an extraordinary surprise. The combination of his fabulous talent and the wonderful instrument made the couple of hundred people in the audience to stand up and frantically applause for quite a while.

Thanks to Cultural Romanian Television, millions viewers from the whole country could see this wonderful concert and the exceptional moment of maestro Eugen Sarbu.

“Bucharest Symphony” Orchestra of our Rotarian colleague, the conductor Florin Totan, sustained the entire concert, as usual at a very high artistic level.

The artists who received the award this year were: the pianist Alina Elena  Bercu, the soprano Corina Constandis, the baritone Leonard Puiu and the violinists Anca  Elena Campanie, George Tudorache and Radu Ropotan. To those wonderful Romanian young artists were addressed not only the awards in money offered by our club, but also our appreciation and high consideration for their talent and effort.
