Equipment Donation for Spinal Endoscopy

The Rotary Club Bucharest Atheneum has donated an up-to-date equipment of spinal endoscopy, with a total value of $ 36.000, to the Emergency Hospital “Bagdasar-Arseni” from Bucharest.
The surgical spinal endoscopy system is used in the lumbar disk prolapse cases. Medical specialists state that, for an intervention performed with this equipment, a smaller incision is needed than in the case of the traditional surgery, and that the patient’s recovery is faster. The patients who could benefit from the advantages of this equipment must be carefully selected by the neurosurgeon.

The equipment has been delivered to a specialized clinic of the “Bagdasar-Arseni” Hospital, through the project initiated in 2007 between the Rotary Bucharest Atheneum Club and the Rotary Klamath County Club, Oregon.
Marius Catana and Vasile Ciubotaru, neurosurgeons at the Bagdasar Hospital, have been the medical advisors within this project.

Miss Martha Maria MOCANU, the Governor of the Rotary 2241 District has participated in the ceremony
